Bronx man hit, killed while fleeing police

THE BRONX - A Bronx man is dead after being hit while trying to flee police on the New York State Thruway. 

According to authorities, 37-year-old Bernell Wright was pulled over by state police on I-87 in Orange County Wednesday night. 

They say Wright got out of his car and took off running across the highway where he was struck by a vehicle being driven by a New Jersey man. 

Wright was rushed to the hospital and later died from his injuries. The driver who hit him was not hurt.
