THE BRONX - Police say a Bronx man was arrested Wednesday for killing his 8-month-old son.

According to investigators, 21-year-old John Rodriguez is now facing murder and manslaughter charges in the death of the boy, Elijah.

The medical examiner says the child?s death resulted from fatal abuse that entailed injuries to his stomach and scalp.

Neighbors at a West Farms homeless shelter where the alleged murder took place say Rodriguez had a history of abusive behavior toward his son, as well as the boy?s mother.

?I know my son and to me it?s as if he flipped,? says Rodriguez?s stepmother, Saida DeJesus. ?He knows the word of God but he flipped and this is the result of what happened.?
