Bronx man gets 15 years for killing infant son

THE BRONX - A man convicted of murdering his 8-month-old son was sentenced this afternoon to 15 years behind bars and five years post-release supervision.

Speaking in court, John Rodriguez said he was sorry for his actions that resulted in the death of his son, Elijah.

Prosecutors said Rodriguez punched the boy in the abdomen while staying at a Bronx homeless shelter in Oct. 2008.

Today, the boy's family said Rodriguez's sentence is too light.
