THE BRONX - One Bronx man is traveling to the other side of the world to help those in need in the Philippines.

Raul Rivera Nuñez has been a staff member of the American Red Cross in Greater New York since 2007, and says he's been waiting for his opportunity to respond to a major international disaster.

The Parkchester resident will now get to put his more than five years of experience to use helping victims of last month’s deadly typhoon for the next four weeks.

Nuñez has been working as a manager of logistics, coordinating local relief efforts following fires, building collapses and even last week's train derailment.
