THE BRONX - A group of Bronx residents fed up with littering took matters into their own hands to clean up their neighborhood.

According to those living near Walton Avenue and 174th Street, illegal dumpers have been hauling garbage over the fence, despite signs warning against it. Neighbors say they contacted Community Board 4 and collected more than 1,000 signatures to improve the area.

The residents also enlisted the help of the Department of Transportation, the Department of Sanitation and Bronx Community Solutions to get the trash cleared away.
