THE BRONX - As part of Women's History Month, the Williamsburg branch of the NAACP honored a Bronx resident today for her talent and inspiration.

Dominica-born singer Marie-Claire was honored in recognition and celebration of her extraordinary accomplishments and service to the community.

The opera and jazz singer, who was classically trained in Italy, also earned her bachelor's degree in archaeology.

She performs regularly at Metropolitan Room in Manhattan, and is currently working on an album.

Organizers say that Marie-Claire is an example to young people in her community.
