Bronx pedestrian hit, killed in University Heights

A family looking to start a new life in The Bronx is now mourning the death of a young woman who was struck and killed

THE BRONX - A family looking to start a new life in The Bronx is now mourning the death of a young woman who was struck and killed in University Heights.

According to witnesses, Ghana Ghalley was crossing the street just before 6 p.m. Wednesday at 190th Street and University Avenue when she was hit by a green van.

Ghalley was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police say the driver involved remained on the scene and was issued two summonses.
