THE BRONX - More than half of the teachers at the Bronx Preparatory Charter School have been teaching without the proper certification for the past three years, according to the SUNY Charter Schools Committee.

Officials say on a recent visit to the school, at least nine teachers were found to be out of compliance. Charter schools like Bronx Prep. receive public money, but are free from some of the regulations that apply to public schools.

Despite the findings, state data shows that the school has been outperforming other schools in the district.
