THE BRONX - Officers with the Department of Corrections are searching for a suspect after he escaped police custody on Thursday.

According to authorities, 27-year-old Jermaine Logan arrived at the Vernon C. Bain Center in Hunts Point, slipped out of handcuffs and fled the area. He had been arrested on a petty larceny charge, but did not have a prior record.

Department officials cannot confirm whether the escape was related to any officers in particular, but did insist that a thorough review of the incident is under way.

Logan is described as a black male, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and about 145 pounds. At the time of the escape, he was wearing a gray shirt, brown jacket and blue pants.
