THE BRONX - As National Volunteer Week kicks off, one Bronx resident is showing how much he can give back to the community.

In 1990, Jonathan Calendar said he had nothing in his life. The nonprofit food pantry Part of the Solution gave him a job, an apartment and turned his life around.

Now, Calender is the longest-serving volunteer at the food pantry, having spent 22 years giving back to the community.

The pantry director says that volunteers are priceless when it comes to giving needy residents a hot meal and a helping hand.

She says that in 2012, volunteers helped to serve over 650,000 meals at the pantry.
