Bronx residents bound for Washington

THE BRONX - A group of Bronx residents boarded a bus bound for Washington this morning to rally for their benefits.

The 50 AARP members want lawmakers to protect Social Security and Medicare from any deficit reduction deal. They say they're worried those benefits could be used as a bargaining chip.

The trip is part of a national day of action. AARP members across the country will also be calling their congressional representatives to discuss their progress in the capital.
