THE BRONX - A holiday weekend is here and many Bronx residents are gearing up to get out of town.

For those taking mass transit, subways and buses on Memorial Day will run on a limited weekend schedule. Metro-North will also operate on a weekend schedule but plans to have five extra trains on the New Haven lines to deal with the holiday rush.

Those who are driving should leave after noon as contruction on most streets will cease for the weekend. It will resume again Tuesday after the morning rush hour. AAA says about 35 millions travelers are expected to drive 50 miles or more this weekend.

Gas prices are also about 10 cents lower than they were last week. However, prices have increased about $1.03 on average from the same time last year.
