Bronx residents head out for the holiday

THE BRONX - Many residents are packing up and leaving the borough today on the busiest travel day of the year.

Whether by plane, train or automobile, more than 42 million people are expected to travel at least 50 miles from home this Thanksgiving weekend, according to the AAA. That number is up 4 percent from last year.

Many local travelers will be driving, despite a 50-cent increase in the price of gas from a year ago. In the city, the average price for a gallon of gas is now about $3.56 per gallon.
