Bronx residents honor MLK day

THE BRONX - Events were scheduled throughout The Bronx and across the country as the nation celebrated the 25th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

The Woodycrest United Methodist Church ran a food pantry throughout the day. Volunteers say any food that is not given out at the church will be distributed on the streets.

In observance, alternate side parking was suspended for the day but commuters must still pay for the meters. Government offices, courts, public schools and post offices were closed today.
