THE BRONX - Some Bronx residents may have some money owed to them by New York state.

The state's Office of Unclaimed Funds says it has $12 billion just waiting to be claimed. It says about $200 million of that money belongs to residents in the Bronx.

The office takes over funds from old bank and stock accounts, untouched tax refunds and even inheritances. It holds onto the money until the rightful owner steps forward to claim it.

The process of finding unclaimed money is simple. Simply log onto the Office of Unclaimed Funds website, click the search button and type in your name.
