THE BRONX - Bronx residents stocked up on supplies ahead of the snowstorm.

Many prepared to be snowed-in at home by picking up plenty of food and water. Employees at Western Beef in Soundview say people grabbed essential goods such as bread, milk, water and eggs, as well as non-perishable canned goods in case the storm is prolonged.

It's recommended to have a supply of candles, matches and batteries in the event of a snow-related power outage.

Others who expected to venture out into the snow stockpiled shovels and bags of salt.
