THE BRONX - Bronx student Chris Chavez is among hundreds of people rallying in Washington, D.C., seeking to provide undocumented students a way to earn citizenship through the pursuit of higher education.

The Dream Act aims to help undocumented students obtain legal status if they attend college or join the military.

The bill would allow young illegal immigrants to apply for permanent resident status under these conditions: -They need to be under the age of 35. -Have arrived in the U.S. before the age of 16. -Have lived here for the last five years.-Have obtained a high school diploma.

Chavez has also gained the support of Rep. Jose Serrano (D-District 16). However, critics say that the bill is just easy amnesty.
