Bronx students take to the streets for Earth Day

THE BRONX - Students across the Northwest Bronx hit the pavement Friday morning in a community walk to school event in celebration of Earth Day.

P.S. 95, P.S. 7 and P.S. 81 are among the seven participating schools. Officials say the walk is aimed at showing kids the importance of physical activity, while teaching them about traffic congestion and the environment.

The event first kicked off in the borough in 2009 with just students from P.S. 24.
