THE BRONX - Police confirm that they've arrested a Bronx high school teacher for attempting to inappropriately meet a teenage girl.

According to the NYPD, 27-year-old Jonathan Blum, who teaches 10th-grade at Dreamyard Preparatory High, faces several charges, including attempted rape and endangering the welfare of a child.

They say Blum intended to meet up with and have sex with an undercover officer, who he thought was actually a 14-year-old girl.

The Queens district attorney says that Blum posted an ad on Craigslist looking for a young teen, student or young girl who would be interested in having relations with a licensed teacher.

After a monthlong sting operation involving emails, text messages and explicit photos, the undercover officer met up with Blum and arrested him.

The Department of Education released a statement saying in part, "While this alleged behavior is not school related, it is incredibly disturbing. This individual has been immediately reassigned from the classroom, and he will not be in contact with any students."
