THE BRONX - After overcoming cancer, a young Bronx resident is debuting her own designs at New York Fashion Week, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

"It takes many years for them to do it, and it only took me like two months," she said.

In July, Gil was diagnosed with leukemia. She underwent aggressive treatments for the disease and worked with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to make her dream of designing come true.

Although the likelihood of recovering was only 40 percent, Katherine's blood tests are now coming back normal.

"I'm just living my life day by day, so I don't know what life has planned for me," she says.

Whatever it is, Gil will be doing it in style.
