BEDFORD PARK - A Bronx teenager is in critical condition after falling from the roof of an apartment building in Bedford Park.

According to police, 17-year-old Hakeem Kuta fell five stories from 2685 Valentine Ave. at around 7:30 p.m. Thursday. EMS found him on the ground with injuries all over his body. He was rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital..

Police say a 40-year-old man alerted them that a large group of teens were smoking marijuana inside the building. Officers patrolling as part of the NYPD's Operation Clean Halls program entered the building. They say Kuta and another teen escaped up the stairs to the roof. Police say Kuta tried to climb over the roof but ended up falling into the alleyway.

Police say Kuta's friend got away. No arrests have been made, but now the internal affairs bureau is conducting an investigation.

Witnesses say Kuta and his family live near where the fall took place.
