Bronx tenants decry parking garage rate hike

THE BRONX - Residents of River Park Towers took to the streets Saturday to protest against a 100 percent rate increase at the parking garage they use.

Dozens of tenants who gathered at Richman Plaza say they're furious after receiving a letter from the garage informing them that the monthly rate would increase from $45 to $99.

"I'm on a fixed income and I'm already bled dry from all my other bills," says Letitia Ledan.

According to tenants, the rate hike is unjustified because Richman Plaza Garage has numerous problems, including water leaks and vandalism.

The State Department of Housing and Community Renewal will make a final decision on the rate increase.
