Bronx tenants nearly robbed of Thanksgiving

THE BRONX- Tenants at the Highbridge House complex say they feared they would be robbed of cooking their own Thanksgiving dinners until last week.

Tenants complained of their plight to News 12 The Bronx - reporters, who visited the tenants on Nov. 17 and aired a story that seemed to resolve the issue.Maggie Frazier, 87, says she was without gas for over a month and was forced to cook on hot plates. Others who reside in the buildings at 1135 and 1145 University Avenue experienced the same problem. They complained of empty holes, broken pipes and no Con Ed workers in sight.Now, Pherne Pearson, a tenant, says it will be a beautiful Thanksgiving.Con Ed officials say they are working on both buildings and expect to have all gas service restored shortly.
