THE BRONX - A Bronx woman is leading local relief efforts to help victims of the devastating tornadoes in the South and Midwest. Click "NEXT" under the video player to watch more coverage of Patricia Madsen's volunteer efforts.

Patricia Madsen, of City Island, single-handedly started her own outreach program, collecting donations from across the tri-state area. She says that over the past couple of weeks, she's received hundreds of donations a day and then organizes them from her front porch before sending them out to families in need.

Madsen says she first focused on residents who lost their homes in Alabama, but now she's also turning her attention to those living in Joplin, Mo. She says she expects to have a truck deliver food and other supplies from the borough to families out west after Memorial Day.
