Bronx woman rushed to hospital after fire on Sedgwick Avenue in University Heights

THE BRONX - A Bronx woman was rushed to the hospital after flames engulfed her University Heights apartment.

About 30 firefighters responded to the fire on the fourth floor of 1981 Sedgwick Ave. at around 7:30 a.m., and contained it to one apartment in the building.

Fire officials say the woman was found unconscious and leaning against a wall in her home. She was taken to Harlem Hospital with severe burns to her hands and legs.

A fire marshal is investigating the cause.
