Building evacuated after collapse

THE BRONX - Part of a six-story residential building collapsed Monday causing officials to evacuate it.

Officials also closed streets surrounding 2194 Barnes Ave., the site of the collapse. Tenants say there were cracks in the basement and on the walls of apartments on the first and second floors.

The Buildings Department reported seven open violations at the building.
