THE BRONX - The city's Buildings Department is assessing the structures of four Tremont stores engulfed in a three-alarm fire.

More than 130 firefighters battled the massive blaze Sunday, which started at Fino's Menswear and Shoes on East Burnside Avenue and caused a section of the building's roof to collapse.

The flames quickly spread to a discount shop, a cellphone store and La Marketa Meats. Dozens of people are now out of work as business owners begin the long process of rebuilding their livelihoods.

Con Edison is also making sure that there are no gas or electrical risks from the affected stores.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
