KINGSBRIDGE - Shop owners say they are seeing a business boost in Kingsbridge and Riverdale thanks to new retail opportunities coming to the Bronx.

Officials say construction at Broadway and 230th Street will bring 250 retail jobs to the area. They have not released what stores will occupy the current construction zone.

The prospect of new businesses in the area has seemed to force other businesses to step up their game. Garden Gourmet supermarket on 233rd Street will be expanding in the next two weeks. The Rite-Aid on 238th Street recently became a 24-hour location and Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt on 236th Street is considering opening a second location in the area.

Construction at Broadway and 230th Street is set to be completed next year.
