BX children recite Quran to promote peace

(09/30/10) THE BRONX - Some children from the Bronx are using their faith to promote peace.

Each of the Islamic children recited all 114 chapters of the Quran by memory as a symbol of strength against those who recently threatened to destroy the holy book.

The event was put together by various Muslim organizations that used the only full-time Islamic school in the Bronx as the center stage to promote peace. Organizers say they want a melting pot of nationalities reflected on the faces of the children who spent years of their lives understanding and memorizing a book they hold close to their hearts.
