BX couple's car smashed during police chase

THE BRONX - A Bronx couple whose brand new Honda Accord was damaged during a police chase says they have received an accident report.

According to Ronaldo and Dolores Gongora, they woke up Sunday morning to find their smashed car on Young Avenue. They say officers left no indication as to what happened and credit a surveillance video for showing them that a police car was responsible.

The Gongoras say they called the precinct several times, but didn't receive an answer. News 12 The Bronx reached out to officers and learned that a supervisor did file a report.

The Gongoras say that about an hour later, a community affairs officer hand-delivered the incident report and apologized for the miscommunication.

Officials say the couple has to file a complaint with the New York City Comptroller's Office and the cost of the damages should get picked up.
