BX man accused in attempted murder of toddler

CLAREMONT - A Bronx man has been arrested after police say he assaulted his ex-girlfriend, kidnapped her baby and left the child in a remote area of a park.

Raheem Harris, 21, is charged with attempted murder for allegedly following his ex-girlfriend as she walked with her 18-month-old daughter, punching her in the back of the head and fleeing with the baby.

Police say Harris then left the baby in a remote area of Claremont Park for about 30 minutes before a Good Samaritan passing by heard crying and found the little girl.

Authorities say the mother and child were reunited and both were treated and released from the hospital.
