BX mom arrested after young son is found wandering streets

BRONXDALE - Police have arrested a Bronx mother after her 4-year-old son was found wandering the streets last night after allegedly being left home alone. Leslie Hildago, 20, was taken into custody outside her Bronxdale apartment and charged with endangering the welfare of a child. A neighbor says she found the boy outside and brought him to a local day care center. Owner Pamela Santana says the pre-schooler told her he was left home alone. "He was lost," Santana says. "Mommy left him home alone, went to the store. There were no lights in the apartment." A friend of the mother says she was inside the home at the time and that she fell asleep before the boy escaped.
