THE BRONX - A Bronx high school principal has been awarded the Mayor's Award for Culture and Arts.

Principal Deborah Effinger, of the Bronx Theatre High School, is one of four honorees to receive the prestigious award for her continued success sustaining creative learning in the city's public schools.

Effinger is the founder of the high school, which offers education in theater production, costume and set designs, and makeup. She has taught theater and arts to aspiring students for almost three decades.
