THE BRONX - Soundview residents came together today to honor the first responders who risked their lives by rushing to Ground Zero after the attacks of Sept. 11.

A large crowd gathered for an annual memorial service on the eve of the 10th anniversary of the attacks.

Participants of the event say the legacy of those men and women who spent days and weeks on the rubble will never be forgotten.

Community Board 9 says there is a plan in the works to build a Sept. 11 memorial in Soundview by the end of 2013.
