THE BRONX - As powerful Hurricane Irene inches closer to New York, many people who live near the water in The Bronx are bracing for the worst.

In Edgewater Park, people with waterfront homes are preparing for possible flooding.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg is warning residents who live in coastal areas to prepare for potential evacuations.

Today, residents flocked to local shops to stock up on water and emergency supplies.
