BX residents demand action in battle of the bulge

HUNTS POINT - Some residents in Hunts Point are concerned over what they say is a lack of available healthy food choices.

Residents say they are forced to eat greasy, fatty foods because those are the only options available in their neighborhoods. They say they are tired of gaining weight and would like to see more healthy restaurants.

Some residents would also like to see fresh produce in the area. They say produce are hard to find, and are sometimes rotten or overripe.

Health food advocates say having healthy choices available in restaurants and grocery stores will help change bad eating habits. They also say eating healthy prevents the influx of heart disease and diabetes in the community.
