RIVERDALE - Members of a Riverdale church are sending sweet treats and other care package items to U.S. soldiers stationed overseas. As part of Operation Sweet Tooth, nursery school children at the Riverdale Presbyterian Church are collecting candy, writing letters and drawing pictures to be sent to Iraq and Afghanistan. The program was created to relieve kids of their excess Halloween candy, and at the same time aid the nation's troops. "The whole idea is that the troops will share it with the children of the village in a show of good will," said parent Cynthia Steinacher. "Then at the same time we can share the nice cards and letters the children made in the school."
