BX residents rally against proposed child care cuts

THE BRONX - The Committee for Hispanic Children and Families rallied outside the Happy Face Family Group Day Care center today to protest proposed child care cuts.

Advocates for the day care centers which may lose city funding due to Mayor Michael Bloomberg's budget cuts say there will be dire consequences if they have to give up their jobs to take care of their kids.

Many say they fear they may be forced to go on public assistance if they have to leave their jobs, which would only further the city's budget woes.

The mayor and the City Council have until June 30 to pass the budget and right up until then, Bronx residents say they plan to fight for their kids.
