THE BRONX - Many Bronx residents sought refuge from the oppressive heat wave at various cooling centers located throughout the borough today.

Many elderly people, who are especially at risk for heat-related illnesses, packed their nearest cooling centers.

Others weren't as lucky, including construction workers on East 236th Street, who couldn't escape the scorching temperatures.
