BX residents try to beat the heat

THE BRONX - ? Bronx residents were trying to beat the heat as temperatures soared again today.

Some people tried to escape under the shade of the trees and others went swimming, but even the swimmers said the water was too hot and it would have been better to be inside with air conditioning.

Officials from the city's Office of Emergency Management are urging residents to call their doctor or head to the hospital if they are feeling sick. They say everyone should be aware of the symptoms associated with heat exhaustion, which include nausea, difficulty breathing and disorientation.

The city is operating numerous cooling centers, allowing everyone to get out of the heat and cool off.
