BX runner gets 2nd in NYC marathon, best finish ever for New Yorker

THE BRONX - Members of "Yes the Bronx" cheered on local athletes today, especially Buzunesh Deba, who ended up placing second in the women's NYC Marathon.

The second place finish is the best finish for a New Yorker in the history of the race.

Those cheering on local runners set up at the leg of the race known as "the wall," where a runner usually runs out of energy.

"It's where the runners run out of all their electrolytes, and everything their bodies have to offer. They're getting through on sheer guts," says Alec Diacou, Chairman of Yes the Bronx.

Organizers say that they wanted to also create a positive impression of the borough for runners passing through.
