THE BRONX - A Bronx senior center enriched in Korean tradition says despite lacking resources to help them adapt to American culture, they are here to stay.

The Bronx Korean American Senior Citizens Association in Bedford Park has remained a tight knit community for almost 27 years.

Members of the center spend their time playing chess, dancing and fine tuning their computer skills.

While the 200 square-foot space doesn't look like much, members of the community say it means the world to them.

"The senior community is what was left when the young children moved out, so the importance of an organization like this is to socialize and make friendships because we can all relate to each other," said Abraham Lee, of the Korean American Community Foundation.

Although some of the community has stayed together, the demographic has shifted and many Koreans have left the Bronx.

Just five years ago, the center had over 200 members. It currently has 120.

A member of KACF says that the decline in members over the years shows how important it is to try and keep the once prominent Korean culture alive in the Bronx.
