BX stores using air conditioners with doors open fined

THE BRONX - Some store owners in the Bronx are getting fined for keeping their air conditioners on with their doors open. A New York City law enacted in 2008 states that chain stores with five or more locations, or more than 4,000 square feet, must keep their doors closed when the air conditioner is on to conserve energy. Stores such as Jeans Plus and Jimmy Jazz in Mount Eden and VIM on Bergen Avenue have been issued $200 tickets for the violations.
