CO-OP CITY - The members of a Bronx volunteer organization are supporting the nation's troops, sending hundreds of cards to medical centers and overseas. The operation, From the Warfront to the Homefront Foundation, provides greeting cards and care packages to soldiers stationed across the globe. Based out of an American Legion Post in Co-op City, project organizers say helping the war effort is therapeutic. "Making these cards and collecting these cards and sending them out to the troops, it means a lot to me," says Emily Toro, a foundation chairperson whose son died in Iraq. "Because when they're out there, they need something from home." Some cards will be delivered to those recovering at Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., and will continue to be sent anywhere U.S. troops are deployed.
