THE BRONX - A Bronx woman trying to start a neighborhood watch patrol to help catch alleged rapists says she is struggling to get her efforts under way.

Cynthia Figueroa is spearheading the program in Westchester Square after a 79-year-old woman was raped in her apartment building two weeks ago.

She has been distributing flyers throughout the neighborhood, but says she does not have enough volunteers to have a consistent task force to patrol the streets after 8 p.m. She says she also needs funding for flashlights and whistles.

Figueroa says the next patrol meeting will be Aug. 11 at the Sanctuary Community Church on St. Peter's Avenue.
