Car careens down sidewalk on Fordham Road during chase

THE BRONX - A number of Bronx residents are shaken up after nearly being hit by a car that they say sped down a sidewalk early this afternoon.

The car careened down the sidewalk on Fordham Road and University Avenue around 12:30 p.m. before crashing into a telephone pole, according to witnesses.

Witnesses say that the car was being chased by officers at the time of the incident.

Those nearby say they are just happy it appears no one hit by the car.
