THE BRONX - Three people were injured when a car jumped the barrier of the Cross Bronx Expressway and fell onto the Bruckner Expressway Monday afternoon.

Officials say the car was traveling westbound on the Cross Bronx extension and fell onto the westbound Bruckner service road. Sources say snow and ice built up along the barrier might have formed a makeshift ramp causing the car to careen off the road.

EMS responders say two victims suffered minor injuries, and another had serious injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening. All patients were taken to Jacobi Medical Center.

News 12 has reached out to the Department of Transportation regarding the accident. They have not yet commented on the situation.
