THE BRONX - Drivers in Bronxdale awoke to a row of cars broken into with their windows smashed Thursday morning.

They say that break-ins are happening along White Plains Road, between Waring and Mace avenues.

Within the past year, the Bronx Park East Association got the city's Department of Transportation to install two streets lamp. They hope to convince the city to install more lighting and security cameras as well.

Advocates say that the elevated subway tracks and the roar of subway trains leaving and entering the station help camouflage acts of crime.
