THE BRONX - According to a new study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the number of patients dying from breast cancer is declining.

The study says that African-American women have a 40-percent higher death rate than white women.

According to the study, the cause of the higher death rate among African-American women is because they receive less frequent mammograms, and there tends to be a longer time between diagnosis and treatment. The CDC adds that tumors found in African-American women tend to be harder to treat.
