SOUNDVIEW - The case is going forward against a man who allegedly raped a 7-year-old girl in Soundview after he turned down a plea deal today in court.

In the criminal complaint, police say Virgilio Ocampo, 33, confessed to having sexual relations with his victim since June. He's been charged with rape, sexual abuse, assault against a child and child endangerment.

With the aid of an interpreter and his lawyer, Ocampo said in court today that he will not testify in front of a grand jury. The prosecutor offered a sentence of 15 years in prison if he pleaded guilty to rape, but Ocampo and his lawyer did not agree to the plea bargain.
